STORM PREPAREDNESS – Tornados, Hail, Floods and Ice – As the Florida panhandle is bracing for Hurricane Michael, residents of Middle Tennessee are advised to think about storms and severe weather that impact our area!  Storm preparedness means being informed, planning ahead, and taking action when severe weather strikes!


Be Informed – Nashville is fortunate to have multiple news outlets with excellent meteorologist!  Be informed about any upcoming severe weather!  You can also download or subscribe to their severe weather alerts so that you will be notified on your phone when severe weather is in our area!  Since Nashville is known for sudden unpredictable storms this can be a life saver!  Never be caught out and about when bad storms hit our area without being informed!


Plan Ahead – When severe weather strikes you will not be in the right frame or mind, and possibly not physically able to make an emergency plan!  Take time NOW to plan ahead so that your family knows what to do!  Have a safe place prepared or a meeting place agreed upon!  Have a place below ground, if possible, to go to if tornados are in the area!  Stock your shelter with water and other necessities ahead of time!  Invest in a weather radio and batteries!  This is a great video from FEMA to help you prepare for severe weather!


Take Action – When severe storms strike our area take action to take care of yourself and your family!  Safety first!  Never venture out in severe weather and stay indoors in a safe, secure location.  Ice covered roads can quickly lead to tragedy and driving in a hail storm or severe thunderstorms is a danger that you should avoid at all costs!
